La Escalera de Jacobo repurposes sequences from Mexican cinema centered on staircases. Through a journey of nonsensical architectures and talking buildings, the work explores the intersections of social class, Catholic morality, and the struggle for a unified national identity. By isolating the staircase as a site of transition, the film transforms these fragments into a visual allegory where architectural elements speak of the persistent tensions of Mexican history.
