Andrés Caballero is a visual artist whose work explores US/Mexico border dynamics through an expanded documentary approach. His research repurposes surveillance tools—LiDAR, virtual reality, and computer vision—transforming them into instruments of agency. Working across photography, video, and installation, Caballero transforms data into a tangible space for counter-narrative, memory, and critical awareness.
Caballero holds an MFA in Photography, Video & Imaging from the University of Arizona. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship, the Mellon Fronteridades Graduate Fellowship, the Marcia Grand Centennial Award, and the Tinker Field Research Grant. His work has been exhibited across Mexico and the United States, including at the Tucson Museum of Art, El Paso Museum of Art, Museo de Arte de Sonora, and the Museo Archivo de la Fotografía.
